Plain language summary: We collect only what we need to run the platform. We never sell your data. We never use your data for advertising. Our AI safety systems process your content to keep the feed honest — not to profile you commercially. You can delete your account and all your data at any time.

1. What We Collect
- Email address, display name, and handle
- Password stored as a one-way bcrypt hash — we cannot read it
- Posts, replies, likes, and follows you create
- TOS consent records: timestamp, IP address, browser info, version accepted
- Post content analyzed by AI safety systems to generate transparency scores
- Request metadata processed by Sentinel for bot detection — not stored permanently
2. How We Use Your Data
- To operate and improve the Candor platform
- To authenticate your identity and protect your account
- To process content through AI safety systems as described in our Terms of Service
- To provide reach analytics via Beacon
- To comply with legal obligations
3. AI Safety System Data
Post content is sent to the Claude Haiku API (Anthropic, Inc.) for safety scoring. Anthropic does not retain post content for model training under our agreement. Safety scores are stored in our database and may be shown as transparency information. Safety data is never used for advertising or commercial data sales.
4. Data Sharing
- Infrastructure: Fly.io, DigitalOcean, Cloudflare, Netlify — process data only to operate the platform
- Anthropic API: Post content sent for safety scoring — no personal account info included
- Legal requirements: Valid legal process or good-faith belief disclosure prevents serious harm
- Child safety: We are required by law to report CSAM to NCMEC — not discretionary
5. Your Rights
- Access and download your data at any time from account settings
- Delete your account — personal data removed within 30 days
- Export your posts in JSON format
6. Children's Privacy
Candor is not directed to children under 13. Users 13–17 require parental consent. Gateway provides additional protections for younger users.
